Blue-Green Landscape with Scholars, dated 1788, handscroll, ink and colors on paper. Signature: „On the twenty fourth day of the tenth month in the wushen year (1788) of the Qianlong period, Song Baochun from An’yi“. One seal of the artist: „Song Baochun yin”. Four collector’s seals: “Erxi shanren”, “Deyu shending”, “Wu shi Yunqingguan suo cang shuhua” etc. Inscription on the frontispiece (shitang), signed Luo Yunzhao and dated the gengxu year (1790). One postscript with seal “Fang Junren”.
From a private collection in southern Germany, mostly acquired in Hong Kong and Jakarta in the 1960s/1970s
Song Baochun, style name Shuaichu, was from An’yi in Shanxi province. He was an official and a connoisseur of stone and bronze inscriptions. He also excelled in painting, calligraphy, and seal carving. His landscapes are said to follow the style of the Northern Song dynasty. The style of this handscroll is different.
